2013 AAA Convention Program

The AAA Annual Convention will be held February 8-9, 2013 at the Holiday Inn Airport.  Above is the link to the convention brochure which includes the registration form.

Pre-registration is strongly encouraged for quick processing at the registration table and to avoid the late fee. Pre-registration cut-off is January 27th. After this date and on-site, a late fee of $25 will be added to the registration fee.

The AAA has negotiated a special room rate of $99 (plus tax) until January 27, 2013. After this date, the
hotel reserves the right to release the rooms. Please make your reservations in advance and tell them that you are with the Arkansas Auctioneers Association.

Annual Membership Meeting

The Board of Directors will meet with the membership at 4:00 p.m. (immediately following the CE class) on Friday, February 8, to conduct the business of the association and to elect officers and board members for the 2013 year. All members are invited and encouraged to attend this meeting.

TV Advertising Fund

This fund will help the AAA promote the auction industry and the association to the public (such as
the TV ad previewed at the 2012 convention). AAA Promotional/Advertising Fund Goal – $5,000

Special Events

Friday February 8

  • Bid Calling & Ringman Championship Competitions 7:00 pm – All auctioneers and ringmen are encouraged to register for the opportunity to claim the titles for 2013 Pro Bid-Calling Champion Rookie Bid-Calling Champion and Ringman Champion

Saturday February 9

  • Banquet: 5:30 p.m. – (Fees included in “full registration”. Single day registrants pay $45 per person)
  • Fun Auction & Awards: 6:00 p.m. – It’s our one time a year to have the best auction possible! Please bring 2 items valued between $25 – $40 to be auctioned off to help the AAA raise funds to promote the auction industry within our state.

We will honor the new AAA president and board during the Installation of Officers, induct new honorees into the Arkansas Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame, and proclaim numerous other awards and presentations.

“Town Hall Lunch” Friday, February 8

The Friday “Town Hall Lunch” this year will allow members to share any of their concerns about the
association or state of the industry. Exhibitors are offered “Talk Time” during this lunch, and the new
members will be introduced during this time as well.. A box lunch will be provided.

He has earned the Certified Auctioneers Institute (CAI) designation, the most highly respected educational designation in the auction industry. CAI graduates have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide high-quality services to all types of clients. Jeff is also a Graduate Personal Property Appraiser & Certifed Estate Specialist. He has performed appraisals & estate work for the Federal, State and local courts, attorneys, insurance companies, IRS audits, estate taxes, Non-profit organizations, individuals, and many more.

Jeff is a Texas Real Estate Commission approved Instructor and has taught thousands Real Estate on a College level since 1986. Dower, CAI, AARE, became the new President of the National Auctioneers Association in July during the 63rd International Auctioneers Conference and Show in Spokane, Wash. Dower is a Partner in Ayers Auction & Realty — a MarkNet Alliance Member — which Hack Ayers, Dowers father-in-law, started 55 years ago in LaFollette, Tenn. In addition, Dower is CEO of five-year-old MarkNet, which has more than 50 member companies and, Dower predicts, will do about $1 billion in sales this year. Dower also is MarkNet’s Treasurer and a member of its Board of Directors.

Dower became a member of the NAA in 1987, and he is a 26-year member of the Tennessee Auctioneers Association, for which he was President in 2001-02. He entered that association’s Hall of Fame in 2005. He has participated in NAA educational events, including the Certified Auctioneers Institute, since the late 1980s. He has attended the NAA’s annual Conference and Show for 24 of the past 26 years. A licensed real estate agent, Dower went to the Mendenhall School of Auctioneering in 1986 and earned his real estate broker’s license in 1988. NAA members elected him as the association’s Vice President in 2011 following his three-year term on its Board of Directors. His wife and business partner, Traci Ayers-Dower, CAI, AARE, also is an NAA member along with their two daughters, Addison Ayers-Dower, 25, and Alissa Dower, 22. NAA Hall of Famer Hack Ayers became a member in 1967, and his wife, Tomi, also is an NAA member.

Stuart Bain  Stuart Bain joined the AuctionServices.com team in 2002, to maintain the network infrastructure and servers. Over time, Bain’s responsibilities grew as additional programming and technology needs surfaced within AuctionServices.com. As CEO, Stuart now oversees all Information Technology resources and programming efforts in addition to providing customer service, technical support, strategic direction, education, and training. Bain has worked with computers since the mid-1980′s, studied Computer Science and Business Administration at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech), and holds a BSBA in Business Informatics from American Sentinel University.

Stuart was born and raised in Roanoke, Virginia. He served in the United States Marine Corps after high school. He and wife Sarah now live in Salem, Virginia and have three children.
